Critique Process
Critique is usually hard for me to accept, I either find their not helpful or the suggestions would alter my stories writing style too much. This semester I really didn’t want to reject the critique I would receive because I had a feeling I would need help with my story, so I gave other’s free range to be harsh in critique and edit my story.
For the semester we always turned in our story drafts on Friday and received feedback from two new peers every Monday. We filled out critique sheets where we wrote suggestions, like what they should take out or add into their story, how they evoked the feeling of relating to their story, and celebrations.
When giving critique I mostly focused on pointing out the parts where peers could show rather than tell what was going on in their story. When they asked I would give them different suggestions as well on how they could improve on that. For me, getting critiqued so many times on the drafts got a little tiring near the end. They felt a little useless since at that point the only thing they could critique was your grammar.
