For our engage activity were going to be using a bowl / cup with the top covered in plastic wrap. You place your sand or rice, any grainy material. You then bang on a metal pan or something that's metal next to your bowl. When you do that you'll start seeing the rice move because of the sound waves. Were doing this activity based on a question, "can you see sound?"
Explore:
For our explore activity were going to pass out slinkies and pieces of ropes in groups to show longitudinal wave and transverse waves. The slinkis will be pushed back and forth to show the compression's and rarefaction's.
Explain:
For our explain section were going to drawing models and visual representations on the classroom white board. Explaining what the activities were showcasing and their differences. As well as what the waves are, and the different visual or sound examples you hear in the real world.
Evaluate:
For our evaluation were going to give kids the option to come up to the board and label the different parts of sound waves, and fill out work sheets asking about the main points of our presentation. At the end we'll be open for any questions from the students.
